Today i'm interviewing Mitchell Silvers.
He is a song writer, member of Bourbon Brown and screenwriter.
Me: Do you consider yourself an artist?
MS:An artist? Yea but I would say I'm a student of the arts(music, film, books, etc)more.
Me: How did you get your start?
MS:9th grade we had to go outside, find a spot and write a poem about it. The whole, creating your own work based on how you see it,had me hooked from day one.
Me: What is your favorite canvas to use as a musician?
MS: I have two my first one is a blank page because it allows you to reach deep down to find ideas. The second one is an instrumental because music is a universal language(my opinion) and regardless of what is put on the beat, the music still dictates the theme.
Me: Are you a part of the hip hop generation?
MS:Well hip hop has come a long way and anyone who born after 1975 is a part of the hip hop generation. Me, well I feel am because it has pretty much been the medium by which I send and receive a lot of my information.
Me: How do you feel about the current state of hip-hop?
MS:Hip hop like a teenager, young and still has some growing to do but looks and sound full grown! We have more to learn before its put in the realms of jazz, blues, and rock&roll. ~ think this era will take music to a whole new level.
Me: What is the difference in hip hop and rap?
MS:The difference is simple, lyrical content. And if you need me to explain anymore then you probably think its all about"pimpin H+*$ and slamming Caddilac doors"-LOL really, you HEAR rap but you have to LISTEN to hip hop.
ME:What's next for you?
MS: Start expandin, I'm looking at blogging check out the blog @ www.dis-or-dat.blogspot.com investing more into stocks, working on my first movie but most of all my family(my wife Cathy our two girls Isabella & Alivia)
